Uyghurdle

Please Note: The dictionary is based on a corpus of extracted words from Uyghur-language Wikipedia (see the below dictionary licence section). As I cannot speak Uyghur, I am unable to verify that all words are correct or that all words are suitable for every audience. As a result, please only play this game with that in mind. Unfortunately I was only able to extract approximately 4,000 words that met length requirements at this time, and some of them may be proper nouns (names) or verbs too. I am not currently able to continue working on this game, however you are welcome to do so (see below) and I hope you will do so in good faith :)

I am also releasing the game files as a zip, downloadable from this page. Please bear in mind that I do not currently have any plans to upload the game files to other platforms, so if you see it somewhere else, check carefully if you trust the website you see it on. Also remember that anything you play in your browser is automatically downloaded to your device so that it can be run.

The JavaScript code for this game is released under the Apache License v2.0. I hope you will find no bugs in the game logic, but in any case the code is licenced as noted above.

P.s. I forgot to add this directly to the HTML and CSS files, but I am releasing the HTML and CSS files in the download on this page under the same license as is noted in the JavaScript file in the download on this page.

If you can speak Uyghur you are welcome to make your own dictionary file for use with this game. It's pretty simple, just create a new text file, add one word per line (making sure each word is five letters long exactly and makes use only of the standard Uyghur Arabic alphabet) and save it as "dictionary.txt" in the "dictionary" folder of the game files.

In order to run the game locally using the game project files available for download here, you will probably need to host the game on 'localhost' - search the web for information on how to do that (once you've learned how to do it once it's pretty easy).

The download of the game files is at the bottom of this page. Always use internet safety and security principles and scan anything you download with a virus scanner - to the best of my knowledge these files are hosted by itch.io (i.e. not me).

Dictionary Licence

-The default "dictionary.txt" file in the "dictionary" folder of this game project was adapted from the wordlist of the Wortschatz Leipzig 2021, 10K Wikipedia "Uighur" corpus/corpora from https://wortschatz.uni-leipzig.de/en/download/Uighur

-The changes made were to create a new text document which aims to include only Uyghur words of 5 letters length from the original corpus wordlist.

-The default "dictionary.txt" file in the "dictionary" folder of this game project is licensed as per the licence of the source corpus (see https://wortschatz.uni-leipzig.de/en/usage), which is licensed under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
